Use Manual
This device allows firefighters to disconnect the DC power from the solar panels to the inverter.
When the grid loses power, the micro-inverters or optimizers installed behind the solar panels will automatically shutdown.
The biggest reason for a Rapid Shutdown (RSD) requirement is to protect firefighters trying to put out a fire.
In past PV system fire incidents, the wires from the solar panels all the way to the inverter or controller were still live even though the house’s grid power was turned off and the inverter automatically shut down according to UL1741.
In grid-connected systems, this photovoltaic system may have voltages as high as 600-1000VDC, which is a huge safety hazard for firefighters.
